Dids has been operating 6 years now. We have opened groups in Qld, NSW, ACT, WA and Vic and are being asked to set up in all states and overseas. In the last 12 months thousands of dads attended dids weekly meetings, as well thousands sought our help via phone, email and letters.

Dids is funded by the generosity of our dads, supporters and the founder who has taken employment as a cleaner in order to keep the service going. I have to tell you it is hard going and heart breaking knowing you could do so much more with just a little more financial help.

Dids saves lives, we know, because they tell us every day. They thank us every day.

At present we are finding it hard to return calls some of which as you know could save a life. So we just do what we can do. Sometimes it's just not enough but we do it anyway.

Australian fathers are good fathers and are doing it tough in today's society and we want them to know we are here to support them. We try and guide them to navigate the future by understanding their past. We try and guide them through a system they feel is against them. We provide them with community based peer group support. And we do it with an incredible bunch of dads, volunteers who have dragged themselves up from the pits of despair and who understand their pain.

It's about giving a hand up to help another man who is in despair. It is these men whom I call lifesavers, it's these men who we owe our gratitude to.
