information - the household, income and labour dynamics in australia (hilda) survey

What is the HILDA Survey?

The Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) Survey is a household-based panel study which began in 2001.

The HILDA Survey aims to provide a new type of social statistics for Australia, and to investigate new methods of measuring change and social trends. The report contains information and statistical tables covering the four main areas of HILDA, namely:

  • Households and family life;
  • Incomes and wealth;
  • Employment and unemployment/joblessness; and
  • Life satisfaction and wellbeing.

The report is based on the first three waves of data collected by the HILDA Survey and analyses changes in the HILDA Survey panel in these four key areas.
